Course Structure

For the longest time, you mull over what musical instrument you wanted to learn to play and have finally decided to take up the guitar.The next question is what type of guitar?

Objective: Classical or Acoustic?
Before signing up for a guitar course, it is important to know what your objective is so that you choose the type of guitar that plays the songs of your choice.
If you are taking up guitar as a career choice, then the classical guitar (nylon strings) will be the type of guitar you need for the practical exams.
The acoustic guitar (steel strings) is for leisure playing ie entertaining friends or just for fun.

The Game Plan: Group or Individual
The next step is to go for guitar lessons either in a group or individually depending on your preference.

The Home Run:
To win the game ie to be dammed good in playing the guitar, all you need is a good mentor in your choice of the guitar instructor and your own effort in consistent and regular practice.

The courses at BG Music & Arts Education Services are structured into:
a) Beginner's Course 
b) Intermediate Course
c) Advance Course: Customised Structured Course

The courses are formulated to make the guitar lessons as simple and as fun as possible for the student. However, the end result very much depends on the student's interest and consistent practice.

a) Beginner's Course:

- Basics: Essential theory. Size of guitar, right way of holding and the tunning of the guitar.
- Tabulature. Understanding tabs and learning to play songs by reading tabs.
- Chords: Reading and fingering the 4 basic chords G, Em, C, D. 
- Strumming patterns. Playing songs by strumming

b) Intermediate Course:

- Advance theory
- Playing melodies, finger picking
- more chords will be taught namely F, Dm, Am, Bm, A, D7
- different playing styles

c) Advance Course: Customised Structured Course:

In this course, the student knows what kind of songs he/she likes to play with the guitar.
And these songs are brought up by the students in class to be taught by the instructor. At the same time, the instructor will introduce some songs with challenging chord techniques. Students signing up for this course have to be very familiar with reading and playing the chords as well as understanding advance theory on guitar playing.
